Buying a ring online doesn't have to be guesswork. Here are two reliable ways to measure your ring size at home in under a minute.
Method 1: Measure a ring you already own
Take a ring that fits the right finger and measure the inside diameter (edge to edge across the inside) in millimetres with a ruler. That diameter maps to a standard size — for example, ~18.9mm inside diameter is roughly EU 59.
Method 2: The paper strip
Wrap a thin strip of paper or string snugly around the base of your finger. Mark where it overlaps, then measure the length in millimetres — that's your inside circumference. As a guide: ~57mm ≈ EU 57, ~60mm ≈ EU 60, ~63mm ≈ EU 63.
Tips for an accurate fit
- Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest.
- Avoid measuring when cold — fingers shrink.
- Size up slightly for wide bands, which fit tighter.
- The ring should slide on with a little resistance and need a gentle pull over the knuckle.
